After nearly two months of the Burn Studios online music community creating remixes of Uffie's hit track A.D.D.S.U.V feat Pharrell Williams, and a further few intensive weeks spent by Uffie listening to the hundreds of remix submissions, we're now delighted to announce the winner:
MIDIBOTS vs CHEVY ONE
We caught up with the brains behind the track for a chat, read our Q&A with MIDIBOTS and CHEVY ONE below and have a listen to their storming remix:
WINNER of The Burn Studios Uffie remix competition
Q&A WITH MIDIBOTS & CHEVY ONE:
First of all, huge congratulations for scooping the winning spot in the Burn Studios Uffie Remix Competition! Out of the hundreds of entries, what do you think made yours stand out?
Transforming the original song into a Big Room Electro House tune was definitely key in making this remix stand out. We think a remix should be a reflection of your own style that still holds true the essence of the original.
Did you know in which direction you were heading before you started work on it?
We had a DJ gig at Emerge and people were responding very well to Electro House Music and that gave us the sound to follow later in the studio.
Uffie said your remix made her want to 'rave on a boat then jump in the ocean!' Have you ever received such bizarre comments about your production before?
She is an amazing artist and a comment like this it means a lot to us. Thanks Uffie!
You'll be going on a meet a greet day out with Uffie. What are you most looking forward to about this?
I think it will be great to catch up and talk music which is what we producers/musicians do best :)
Have you played your remix out yet? If so, what was the response?
Here are few responses from well known international DJs:
"Played this monster remix out! People recognized the Uffie + Pharell vocals but their quizzical looks up at the DJ booth told me they weren't aware of the version I was playing. Don't worry party people all will become clear soon enough!" - Dylan Rhymes, LOT49
"I Love the vibe in the mix and the original use of elements it's been causing crazy panic in my sets recently!" - Sharooz, La Bombe
"I Love this remix. I'm playing it every night" - Sidechains, Tracy Recordings/Ministry of Sound
Did you listen to any of the other remix submissions? Did you find any stand out tracks?
"SANDD'S", "Icer-J Remix", "Seb Skalsky", "Tristan Wurst", "GrandPA", "Adonakis"
Your winner's prize includes a complete Avid Recording Studio worth €3000. What products will you be most looking forward to playing with?
Chevy One - The Eleven Rack from Avid. Rock on!
Midibots - We can't wait to put our hands on M-Audio's stuff and digi mbox 2 mini!
Collectively you've got around 20 years of experience in the industry. What made you enter this remix competition?
We loved the challenge in taking the vocals from Uffie and Mr Pharell Williams up to 127bpm then making them work in a Electro House Remix.
How did the three of you come to produce together?
We know each other from High School, Crazy Mike and Chevy One used to have a band together. RewindTheDisco has always been DJjing around for years. Chevy One was in Spain for a Common gig with the Midibots at the Emerge night. We talked that night about the Burn Remix Competition and we couldn't resist taking those audio files into Logic Pro and getting hands-on with the song.
What roles do each of you adopt when you produce together?
It changes all the time. We all have our own laptops and keyboards so we mess around until we achieve 'The Sound'. We handcrafted every Tone individually after jumping to the groove with drum sounds from RewindTheDisco's own sample library. By the end of the session we had banging beats going on here and there. The arrangement was a bit complicated as we are all DJs so it had to fill the needs of each of us. At the mixing stage is always good to have three heads listening rather than one.
You have you an 'obsession to make hit records'. What's the recipe to creating a hit record?
- A Clear idea of the sound you want for the project
-Modern sounds
-Clever arrangement
-A great vocalist
Chevy One has currently been riding high in the Beatport Charts. Do you see this chart as a benchmark for knowing you've got a hit record?
Working with artists such as Uffie, Pharell Williams and Ed Banger Records is a massive boost for my music career. I aim to make the most out of this opportunity.
How important is it to you that your hit records cross over into the mainstream?
Taking into consideration the trend of todays music you have to be able to deliver for Club Land and the mainstream. Although initially I write music that I love, there is always that part of the brain that wants your music to be popular all over the world. Why make music for the minority when it can be enjoyed by the masses.
What artists are inspiring you at the moment?
Chevy One - Dylan Rhymes, Wolfgang Gartner, Sharooz, Subfocus, Nero and Bar 9
Midibots - Phonar, Digitalism, Siriusmo and Daft Punk.
Burn Studios strongly believes in igniting creativity and nurturing raw musical talent. Who do you tip as a producer to watch in 2011?
Chevy One - 6pod9, He did the Mastering to our wining song for this competition and to my taste is best producer I've ever met.
Midibots - Sidechains, He is a really good producer and arranger, we really like his grooves and how he manage to make any of his songs an awesome club banger.
Individually, what have been your biggest achievements to date?
Chevy One - It has been a great year for me. DJing in Prague, working with Troy Antunes (Justin Timberlake), Gareth Young (Danni Minoge, Sugababes), and winning the Remix Competition, this year couldn't get any better. Midibots - We've performed at the SOS 4.8 International festival and promoted our own nights at the Emerge club while getting busy working in the remix for The Touch, The Leadings and Uffie with great success.
What obstacles do you see there are for today's new / young producers?
Anything that anyone can think in their head can be achieved. Kids today learn Logic at school at the age of 10 years old. There is also a lot more competition in the industry now due to cheap home studio setups but keep your focus and skills finely tuned and progression will be achieved.
Anything up your sleeve for 2011 that you'd like to share with us?
Right now I have my new tune 'BIG' which is forthcoming on the Lot49 Annual Compilation CD Mixed by Meat Katie and my remix of 'Darkbeat' which will feature alongside other remixes by Deadmau5 and Stereo Cartel.
We are currently working in our first Midibots EP and planning on touring in many different clubs all around the country.
Cheers for the chat - and THANKS FOR THE FIERCE CREATIVITY

There was also five runners-up, let's not forget. They were selected as the five most played entries and, boy, these remixes took some serious hits. The Top 5 tracks were as follows:
In fifth place was S1L3NC3 who racked up 3,607 plays on his remix.
Just one step off a Top 3 place was Lionex aka Technomaster, with 3,811 clicks of play.
In third place was labelfivebeat, of France. They managed a fairly staggering 4,027 plays.
Closely following on from labelfive beat in second place was GabrielSlick of Romania with 4068 hits.
And the most played track of all was DJ_Stef, also of Romania, with a gigantic 5,230 plays. Massive!
A huge thanks to everyone who entered the competition, and all those who supported it, including AVID, SoundCloud, everyone at Burn Studios and, natually, Uffie...with a little bit of help from Pharrell Williams.
